This first part to this page address issues in relation to maximising web browser options. The second part to this page is in relation to the design and build of this website.
PART 1 - Make the most of your web browser.
In order to view this website better, you may wish to change some of your web browser settings. This will affect any websites that you visit and not just this one. Below are suggestions to aid with viewing websites. Please note that images will not be affected and not all pages on all websites will be compatible. Alterations to text, fonts and colours can make websites easier to read. The below are relevant to Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) versions 6 and above. Similar features and settings are widely available in other browsers such as Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari.
Making text larger:
- Go to VIEW in IE window, select VIEW followed by TEXT SIZE. Choose the size of text you require.
Alter fonts and colours (permanently):
- Go to TOOLS in IE window, select TOOLS then select INTERNET OPTIONS
- In GENERAL tab, select ACCESSIBILITY
- Add ticks to each of the three boxes by clicking on them
- Press OK
Change the text font:
- Go to TOOLS in IE window, select INTERNET OPTIONS
- In GENERAL tab, select FONTS
- In WEB PAGE FONT and PLAIN TEXT FONT lists, choose your preferred fonts Press OK
Change text/background colour:
- Go to TOOLS in IE window, select INTERNET OPTIONS
- In GENERAL tab, select COLOURS
- Un-tick USE WINDOWS COLOURS
- In box next to TEXT choose a colour
- Press OK
- In box next to BACKGROUND choose a colour
- Press OK
Stop graphics from appearing:
- Go to TOOLS in IE window, select INTERNET OPTIONS
- Select ADVANCED TAB
- Scroll down to MULTIMEDIA heading
- Un-tick PLAY ANIMATIONS, PLAY VIDEOS and SHOW PICTURES
- Press APPLY and then press OK
(if graphics still appear then refresh your screen (hold down CTRL key and press F5 on keyboard or go to VIEW in IE window then REFRESH)
Change size of IE window:
- Go to VIEW in IE window, select FULL SCREEN (alternatively press F11 on keyboard)
Additional options:
- Go to TOOLS in IE window, select INTERNET OPTIONS
- Select ADVANCED TAB
- improve visibility by selecting options available
Browser Compatibility
This site has been tested on most browsers and for functionality and compatibility and performs satisfactorily. If you experience any difficulty with this site please contact us.
Compliance
Compliance standards are constantly evolving, and as such this site undergoes regular compliance reviews. Due to the very nature of these evolving codes of compliance, this site may from time to time not comply fully with all standards.
Visual design
It should be possible for you to change the text size on this site in your browser (as outlined in part 1 above). If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, the content of each page should still be readable.
Navigation
The navigation on this site has designed to be consistent in appropriate sections and easy to follow.
Keyboard navigation
Not only can you use a mouse to navigate this website but you can also use your keyboard. Use your arrow keys to scroll up or down the page and your Tab key to move between links then press Return or Enter to select one. To go back to the previous page, use the Backspace key.
Images
Content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes.
Links
Links from this website are designed so that the text of the link already fully describes the target (such as the headline of an article). Links are written to make sense out of context and should open in a new browser window.
Screen Readers
Wherever possible, pages to this site have Page Titles and images have Alternative Descriptions that can be translated by Screen Readers with text-to-speech, sound icons or as a braille output.
